Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo Flight Crash

On October 31, 2014 VSS Enterprise Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo spaceflight test vehicle crashed at the Mojave Desert, California in United States. Read the full story here.

It's tragic that one pilot died while the other is seriously injured. And it's quite bad timing for that Interstellar spacetravel sweepstakes.

These are the perils of the space industry. There will be setbacks, lives will be lost, lessons will be learned, improvement will happen. It's all part of the challenge for growth and advancement in the pursuit of exploration and science.

We currently embrace and enjoy many aspects of technology including commercial air flight, but that wouldn't have been possible without the countless people (both known and unknown) who gave their time, skills and lives during the early crucial stages of those projects.

Space tourism is currently in its infancy, but thanks to the dedication and efforts of these pilots and many others like them we get to move upward and beyond, paving space travel for future generations.

May peace be with them and their families.
